TeleflexGFI’s alternative fuel systems are designed to seamlessly integrate either a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) injection system to today’s modern vehicles. Using leading edge technology, TeleflexGFI’s sequential injection systems offer superior performance, driveability and optimized emissions while significantly lowering fuel costs.
LPG delivers comparable power, acceleration, and cruising speed characteristics to gasoline, albeit with a somewhat increased fuel consumption, due to an energy content 70–75% that of gasoline. LPG’s high octane rating (around 105) means that an LPG engine’s power output and fuel efficiency can be increased beyond what would be possible with a gasoline engine without causing destructive knocking. Such fine-tuning can help compensate for the fuel’s lower energy density.
CNG vehicles have been introduced in a wide variety of commercial applications, from light-duty trucks and sedans (like taxis), to medium-duty trucks (like delivery vans). For consumer markets, there is a worldwide growth in using CNG as an alternative fuel for the transportation industry.
To accelerate the adoption of alternative fuels and to offer lower-cost fuel options, many countries are offering tax incentive and rebate programs toward the purchase cost of a new LPG or CNG powered vehicle, or a grant to cover the cost of converting existing private vehicles.
A study by Australian LPG Association released in 2006 estimates that the average fuel bill for a six-cylinder vehicle travelling 15,000 kilometres a year would be cut by $27 a week, or more than $1,400 a year, following conversion to LPG. Combining these fuel savings and the government rebate programs would result in recouping the vehicle conversion cost in less than six months.
TeleflexGFI has an extensive suite of aftermarket LPG and CNG conversion kits for light duty, mini-van, SUV, and light trucks. We also supply a wide variety of core components for light, medium and heavy duty applications. |
